Day 6: Not Just Church

When I think about rest, about a day or an hour to just sit and breathe life in slow and breathe it out all full and peaceful, Sunday morning church isn't on my list. I know that my kind of crazy Sunday morning marathon isn't the norm for most of you, but our messy hearts know this struggle. BreatheDay6

By the time we're dressed and pressed and rushed into the doors of church, rest is the furthest thing from our minds. The songs start to play and we notice that whoever is in charge of slides misspelled "hallelujah" and the electric guitar is a bit too loud and 'where did they come up with this new song anyways?'

And by the time the pastor stands to pray our hearts can be further from God than they've been all week, and 'oh why isn't my neighbor here for this sermon, because we all know she needs it?'

Sunday morning isn't just church It's stepping into the very presence of our Creator It's gathering publicly to proclaim the glory of our God It's standing to proclaim who we are in Him by His grace It's coming to Him, by His grace, to receive from Him, for His glory It's about being the bride of Christ together

Sunday morning… it's about coming open and expecting to be filled it's about knowing His presence will be there and begging Him to move it's about practically living out the charge to love one another it's about breathing in His Word and letting it change us

And it's never going to be easy because love and service are messy, but it will always fill you full of Him if you come open and expecting.

Sisters, my heart has been resisting this learning for years. I'm learning, but at times it's oh so hard. So join me with humbled hearts this morning as we ask Him to meet us and fill us, and then let's sit in that sanctuary or gymnasium or community center turned church and expect that He will answer…that He will speak to us.

Be blessed <3
